John Russell Brock, Jr. was born August 22, 1979, in Brunswick, Georgia, to John Russell Brock, Sr. and Carolyn Cox. He graduated high school from Windsor Hills Baptist School in Oklahoma City. After graduation, he furthered his education and attended Bible College. On March 19, 2004, he married Lisa Fugitt in Fort Worth. Russell and his family later moved to Breckenridge, where he became the pastor at Rose Avenue Baptist Church. He also worked for Breckenridge Independent School District, as well as serving as a chaplain for Solaris Hospice. Russell was a proud Oklahoma Sooner and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He shined for Jesus and spent his life serving Him. The verse he lived by was 2 Corinthians 12:15, “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.” He loved southern gospel music and had a huge heart for working with youth. He loved spending time with his family, especially his son, Justin, with whom he had such a special relationship.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Brock, Sr.; one baby in heaven; and his father-in-law, Jerry Fugitt.
Russell is survived by his wife, Lisa Brock of Breckenridge; his son, Justin Brock; his honorary children, Aryssa Seabourne, Mayhaylee Seabourne, and Greg Galindo; his mother, Carolyn Wright of St. Marys, Georgia; siblings, Robin Dellavalle of Florida, Aaron Brock of Texas, Elizabeth Brock of North Carolina, and Audrey Walters of Missouri; and numerous nephews, nieces and close family members.
