The Breckenridge community will have a variety of activities planned for local families on Halloween, which will be Tuesday, Oct. 31. Check out the list of events:

Walker Street Trick-or-Treat

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the traditional Walker Street Trick-or-Treat on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31.

For Walker Street Trick-or-Treat, the Chamber will put together a list of local businesses on Walker Street and beyond that will be handing out candy to kids for the holiday. The event will take place during the regular business hours of the participating businesses, mostly from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but some businesses may close earlier or stay open later. The wide range of hours allows younger children and daycares to trick-or-treat early in the day, and then school-age kids can stop by after school.

Blackhorse Mercantile and Cafe, 103 W. Walker St., will have a photo area set up for all trick-or-treaters to to stop at and take a picture. The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. and give out candy until they close at 9 p.m. or until they run out of candy.

Bayer Chevrolet of Breckenridge has announced an online costume contest on their Facebook page on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Parents can upload and share a picture of their trick-or-treater and use the hashtag #bayerchevy for a chance to win prizes. Additionally, anyone can go by the dealership, 601 W. Walker St., and get your picture taken for 10 extra votes in the contest. The grand prize will be a $100 Amazon shopping spree for the trick-or-treater; the second place prize will be a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant; and the third place prize will be a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant. Bayer will be handing out candy from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Halloween.

Call the Chamber at 254-559-2301 to get a business put on the list of participants.

The Breckenridge Texan will add the list of participating businesses to this story when it becomes available.
