The City of Breckenridge has declared a Boil Water Notice effective Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, for an area on the west end of Breckenridge.

The Boil Water Notice affects the area from FM 3099 to just east of Gebo’s and from Northglen to West Walker Street. It also includes the Cactus Cove, Medina Court, Gaston Court and Pembrook Street. See the map below for the affected area.

According to the notice, a water line break caused the need for the notice.

Due to the situation, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City to notify all customers within the affected area to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled for two minutes. Children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

The Boil Water Notice will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify each customer directly in the affected area.

For more information, call the City Offices at 254-559-8287 or the Water Office at 254-559-7249.
