In conjunction with the “See Something/Say Something” campaign, Stephens County TX Crime Stoppers is sponsoring a program with the Breckenridge Police Department to provide free security cameras to property owners in Breckenridge and Stephens County who suspect criminal activity is happening nearby.

“We are sponsoring a program, ‘See Something/Say Something’ to encourage people to be more proactive in fighting crime in Stephens County. In conjunction with this program, we are sponsoring a camera program through the Breckenridge Police Department,” Stephens County TX Crime Stoppers board member Kevin King said in an email.

If a local resident feels there is suspicious activity close by, they can request that a camera be installed on a temporary basis to record possible illegal activity which could lead to the arrest and conviction of the criminals involved. The request does not need to related to a specific crime or one that has already been reported to the police, King said.

To request a security camera, property owners need to call the Breckenridge Police Department at 254-559-2211 and request the free installation of a security camera on their property. Only property owners may request this service and property ownership will be confirmed prior to installation of the camera.

The BPD will install and monitor the cameras at no cost. Crime Stoppers is using the Police Department for the service to protect the anonymous call-in feature used by the crime stopper tip line.

For more information, call the BPD at 254-559-2211.
