Stephens County Judge Michael Roach is asking citizens to call his office at 254-559-2371 or County Veterans Service Officer Les Strickland at 254-559-7021 to furnish the names of local veterans who died in 2022 so that they can be included on the veterans memorial on the courthouse lawn.

The monument is updated each year, and local members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary, along with Stephens County residents, attend a ceremony to honor those veterans. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. on the courthouse lawn, 200 W. Walker St.

The deadline for adding the name of a veteran to the monument is Friday, May 12.
