Volunteers are needed next Saturday, May 25, to help place American flags on the graves of U.S. Military veterans buried in the Breckenridge Cemetery.

Eighteen names were added to the monument this year.

They will get started at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 27, in the Breckenridge Cemetery.

The deadline to add the name of a deceased veteran to the monument is May 12.

A U.S. veteran is asking for volunteers to help put flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day.

Although heavy rains in the early morning hours and afternoon of Monday, May 31, led to localized flooding, there was a temporary halt in the rainfall just in time for family, friends and others to gather with members of VFW Post 7767 and its auxiliary on the southwest corner of the Stephens County Courthouse lawn to honor the local U.S. military veterans who passed away last year.
