The City of Breckenridge and Stephens County will pick up brush with a wood chipper inside the corporate limits of Breckenridge the week of March 20 at no charge to residents. The semi-annual brush pickup is a cooperative effort between the city and the county to help Breckenridge residents dispose of their tree trimmings.

Residents will need to have brush/tree trimmings they would like chipped and hauled off at curbside by 6 a.m. Friday, March 17.

No brush larger than four inches in diameter will be picked up. Brush must be cut in lengths no longer than six feet long and should be limbs only, no dirt or roots. Uprooted trees with roots attached cannot be run through the chipper. Butt ends must be placed toward the street or curb.

It will not be necessary to contact either the City of Breckenridge or Stephens County to receive the brush pickup service; the trucks will run the entire city during that week. The service has been provided to City of Breckenridge residents on a semiannual basis for several years. The trucks will be running in separate sections of the City from March 20-24. Any brush put at the curbside after March 17 will not be removed.

Throughout the year, tree limbs can be brought into the Convenience Station at no charge to customers. Convenience station hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday and  Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, the City will have bulk pickup on Wednesday, March 22. City residents may have three large items picked up and must call the City offices at 254-559-8287 by Friday, March 17, to be put on the bulk pickup list.

The City of Breckenridge usually offers bulk pickup on the third Thursday of every month, but they have adjusted the schedule this month to align the pickup with the brush pickup.

For more information, call the City of Breckenridge at 254-559-8287.
