On Friday evening, the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Mingle & Jingle shopping event and the lighting of the City of Breckenridge’s community Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and on Wednesday, Dec. 8, the Chamber will sponsor a lighted Christmas parade through downtown.

A variety of businesses stayed open late so that community members could do some after-hours holiday shopping. At 6:30 p.m., a small crowd gathered in Foundation Park on the corner of Walker Street and Breckenridge Avenue as City of Breckenridge Public Services Director Stacy Harrison turned on the Christmas tree lights and Preslie Malcuit sang “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The Christmas parade, which has the theme of “What Christmas Means to Me,” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Applications for floats may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, 100 E. Elm St.

The parade organizers encourages those with floats to plan lighted displays, since the parade will be after sunset. Throwing candy from the floats will not be allowed, but adults may walk along with the float and hand out candy to the crowd.

For more information, call the Chamber at 254-559-2301.
