One last ride: Daniel Jimenez’s last request fulfilled as 18-wheeler takes casket to cemetery

A long line of vehicles stretched down Walker Street as far as the eye could see on Friday afternoon as friends and family members paid their last respects to Daniel Jimenez of Breckenridge, who passed away on Oct. 2 at the age of 48.

Daniel Jimenez
As the funeral procession made its way from Bethany Baptist Church on West Walker to the Breckenridge Cemetery on the east side of town, one of Daniel’s final wishes was fulfilled — his casket was taken to the cemetery on the back of an 18-wheeler.
A truck driver for many years, Daniel used to drive for Reyes Brothers Trucking, and the Reyes family helped make his wishes happen. Following the truck carrying the casket was the dump truck that Daniel drove when he worked for Chad Townson at Big T Backhoe. Others from the community also brought their trucks to help with the final goodbye for Daniel, Jaclyn Morehart said.
The funeral procession was led by Morehart Mortuary with help from the Breckenridge Police Department and Breckenridge Fire Department.
