John Michael Nored, 27 years old, of Breckenridge pleaded guilty to three charges and was sentenced in the 90th Judicial District Court last month to a maximum of eight years in prison.

After serving 435 days in the Stephens County Jail, Nored pleaded guilty to three charges, Possession of Child Pornography, Invasive Visual Recording and Sexual Assault of a Child, said Stephens County Sheriff Kevin Roach.

Nored was arrested in April 2020 following an investigation by the Abilene Police Department Cyber Crimes, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations. At that time, he was arrested on charges related to the child pornography.

During interviews after his arrest, Nored admitted to having sex with an underage girl, according to a complaint filed with the Stephens County Justice of the Peace by then-Sheriff Will Holt. Following an investigation into that confession, Nored was served with the additional arrest warrant in July 2020, while he was in jail.

According to court documents, on July 8, 2021, Nored pleaded guilty and was sentenced to the following:

  • Possession of Child Pornography — third degree felony — sentenced to eight years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Correctional Institutions Division with fines and other charges totaling $2,925
  • Sexual Assault of a Child — second degree felony — sentenced to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Correctional Institutions Division with fines and other charges totaling $1,925
  • Invasive Visual Recording — state jail felony — sentenced to 16 months in the TDCJ State Jail Division with fines and other charges totaling $1,870

All three sentences were ordered to be served concurrently. Roach said Nored was transferred from the Stephens County Jail to the John Middleton Unit in Jones County, just north of Abilene, on July 26.

According to information from the TDCJ website, Nored will be elegible for parole on April 29, 2022, and his projected release date is April 29, 2024. His maximum sentence date is April 29, 2028.
