Surrounded by brightly colored metal décor, Diane and Bernardo Becerra, along with family, friends and members of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, July 8, for their new business, Cactus Chic, located at 918 E. Walker.

Diane Becerra says the shop offers “a little bit of everything,” including outdoor and indoor home décor items, jewelry, purses and other bags, hats, clothing and more. “I just love to decorate my house, so I thought we’d open this up to bring some décor to town,” she said.

Becerra said the metal art items, which range from giant roosters and tiny pigs to large spinning flowers and small cactus, are imported from Mexico. She and her husband travel to Mexico to pick out the specific items they and their customers want. Their sons, Jacob and Nando, also help out with the business.

The other products are ordered from different places, she said. Also included in the store’s inventory are wooden and mixed media crosses, cathedral window-style wall hangings, cascading fountains, door hangers/signs, painted windmills and decorated pottery.

Although many items have a southwestern theme to them, overall, the shop offers a wide variety of styles, such as animal prints, farm living, patriotic and more.

Cactus Chic is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
