The first day of school for Breckenridge Independent School District students is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 18, and the district is now accepting student registrations and has released the school supplies lists for the new school year.

Student Registrations

All students, new and returning, are required to register for the new school year by Thursday, Aug. 5, and this week, BISD opened up the pre-registration process for the 2021-2022 school year.

BISD has an online student enrollment process for returning students. To begin the enrollment process, log in to your Skyward Family Access account. Open the tab “2021-2022 Returning Student.” Required registration forms are available under the tab, and all need to be fully completed in order for registration to be finalized for the 2021-2022 school year. If you don’t have a Skyward account, you may apply for one by clicking the link above.

If you are unable to complete the online enrollment forms, on-campus enrollment opportunities will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4,  and Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at any of the four BISD campuses.

Those registering new students may click here to start that process.

There are two forms that have not been included in the online registration packet, but need to be filled out prior to Aug. 5, as well. If you have a student or students who will be riding the bus this year, you will need to fill out the BISD Bus Enrollment Form. You will need to complete the form for every bus rider in your home.

Also, parents need to complete the BISD Household Information Form (English Version) or the BISD Household Information Form (Spanish Version) in order for the district to collect information regarding our students and families. The form will also aid in district funding purposes.

The BISD registration forms and other information are also available on the BISD website. If you’re using a desktop or laptop computer, look under the “Buckaroos” tab in the menu bar just under the words “Breckenridge Independent School District” across the top of the page. On a mobile device, most of the forms are listed on the main page.

Additionally, East Elementary will have a student registration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5.  For more information, call the school at 254-212-4627 in August or the BISD Administration office at 254-522-9600.

Buckaroo Bash

BISD will hold its annual Buckaroo Bash in the BHS Auxiliary Gym (the small gym inside the BISD Athletic Facility) on two days this year: Thursday, Aug. 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday, Aug. 13, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will not be a registration opportunity, BISD officials say.

Buckaroo Bash is for picking up student schedules, finding out homeroom teachers, Little Bucks sign-ups, Cheer and Football Buddies sign-ups, and Booster Club sign-ups and gear. In order to receive your student’s schedule and/or homeroom teacher name, all online registration requirements must be completed by Aug. 5. Schedules and/or homeroom teachers will not be changed at Buckaroo Bash.

School Supplies

The school supply lists for Breckenridge elementary and junior high students are now available. The high school does not have grade-level supply lists.

Click on the links below for the lists for each school. East Elementary has the lists for Pre-K through second grade; South Elementary has the lists for third through fifth grades; and BJHS has the lists for sixth through eighth grades.

The lists can be printed or downloaded into your computer or phone for your convenience.

Parents can get a break on school supplies and some clothing items during the State of Texas’ annual sales tax holiday, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 6-8.

That means shoppers do not have to pay sales tax on qualified items priced below $100, saving them about $8 on every $100 they spend.

Click here to visit the Texas Comptroller’s website for more information about the event, including lists of what qualifies and what doesn’t.
