Breckenridge kicks off Independence Day weekend with fireworks show at lake
Food, fun and fireworks was the agenda for Saturday evening’s community fireworks show at Hubbard Creek Lake, and another evening of patriotic display is scheduled for tonight just north of Canyon Road Barn and Grill restaurant, 5790 FM 3418.
Sponsored by Stowe’s Independent Services, a local business owned by David and Lisa Stowe, in conjunction with the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, Saturday’s event included food vendors, summertime lake activities and a fireworks show to wrap up the night.
KLXK-FM 93.5 radio station was at the lake, broadcasting from the swimming area, in the Corley’s Ramp (aka Game Warden’s Ramp) area off of CR 277. Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce had a booth selling glow sticks and other festive items.
Families and groups of friends gathered in the beach and pavilion areas with tents, awnings, RVs and a variety of lawn chairs to celebrate the United States’ Independence Day. Kids and adults alike swam in the lake, fished, danced to live music and enjoyed the day that included some rain in the morning and early afternoon and high temperatures in the mid-80s.
