Rena Browning, 75, of Breckenridge, earned her heavenly wings on Friday, May 28, 2021, at her home with friends and family at her bedside. She passed peacefully at 5:25 p.m. Her funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories, with Jimmy Senkel officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation at the funeral home from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Her interment will take place at Bullock Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Rena was born in Ranger, Texas, and was raised in Breckenridge, Texas. She was one of seven children, including her two sisters, Mary Harrison and Senada “Bugs” Proctor, and her four brothers, Tommy Davis, Billy Ray Davis, Orville Davis, and Jud Davis. She was the widow of the late Charles “Buster” Browning and the mother of Pam Smith, Gary Chaney, Mikea Wills, Tamatha Douglas, and Deanna Knight, as well as her late stepson, Michael Knight Jr. She was an awesome Meemaw to 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Rena was a kind, sweet, loving, and forgiving woman who always saw the good in every person she met. She couldn’t ever say NO to anyone. She loved listening to country music (Conway Twitty was her favorite) and going dancing, especially on her occasional 3:00 a.m. “get up and dance with me in the kitchen” nights! She enjoyed her “Me Time” out at the lake where she could be alone with her thoughts. Rena loved visiting with family and friends, reading her Bible and inspirational daily devotionals, and watching her favorite TV shows while playing her games on her tablet.

She was our Princess… our Mamma.

Memorial donations in Rena’s name can be made to either Meals on Wheel of Breckenridge or to Solaris Hospice and can be left at the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
