12:05 2021

The Breckenridge Rotary Club will team up with Carter BloodCare for a local blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at First National Bank’s Community Room, 101 E. Walker St.

Advanced registration is recommended, and there are still several spots available. Click here to visit the Carter BloodCare site where you can register to give blood on Thursday.

Following the recent winter storm, which shut down many opportunities to donate blood, Texas is experiencing a blood supply shortage. Additionally, the year-long COVID-19 pandemic has created a national blood shortage.

Every blood donor with Carter BloodCare receives a free cholesterol check on each successful donation and will also receive a COVID-19 antibody test for a limited time during the pandemic. Donors can retrieve their antibody results within one to two weeks through a secure portal on the blood center’s web site. All blood types are needed.

For more information about the local blood drive, call Les or Sherry Strickland at 254-522-1959. For more information about the blood donation process, visit the Carter BloodCare website.
