Rodney Jack Vick, Sr. was called home to heaven, surrounded by family and friends to reunite with his parents, Alice and John, and brothers, Syd and Harold Vick, after a courageous battle with the debilitating blood disorder, Myelofibrosis.

Jack was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on March 14, 1940, where he was raised alongside his two brothers by their parents. Jack graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army where he served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Jack returned to Breckenridge and eventually gained employment with General Motors, where he worked and retired after 30 years. Jack enjoyed raising goats, tending to horses, creating custom wood crafts, horse racing and above all else, spending time with his family and spoiling his 4-legged faithful companion Sandy.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and John Vick; older brother Syd; and younger brother Harold.

Jack is survived by his former spouse, Judy Vick of Aledo, Texas; daughter Regina Harris and husband Ted of Weatherford; son, Rodney Jack Vick Jr. and wife Pam Vick of Springtown; and daughter Edwina Norris Vick and husband Phil of North Richland Hills. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack will forever live in our hearts and memories and he will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation of precious blood/platelets be made in Rodney’s name. Additionally, you can also donate to the local Breckenridge Meals on Wheels program.

Jack’s funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Necessity Baptist Church with pastors Skipper Hindman and Red Whaler officiating the service. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Necessity Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
