July 2

  • A deputy transported a female inmate from Stephens County Jail to and from 90th District Court in Young County, where she was sentenced to prison for eight years.

July 3

  • Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of South Graham Avenue and County Road 229. A drug investigation ensued. The 19-year-old female passenger was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine. The driver was issued multiple traffic violations.

July 8

  • A deputy transported a male inmate from Stephens County Jail to and from the 90th District Court in Young County for an extradition hearing regarding an offense in New Mexico.

July 9

  • The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, along with two Breckenridge Police Department Officers, served arrest warrants on a 26-year-old male at an address in the 1800 block of CR 229. The warrants were for Methamphetamine Drug Delivery and Methamphetamine Drug Possession.
  • The Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. Highway 180 East. A drug investigation ensued. The 30-year-old male driver was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

July 10

  • A deputy arrested a 25-year-old male for a warrant stemming from indictment for Methamphetamine and Cocaine Drug Dealing. The arrest occurred at the Law Enforcement Center.
  • The Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 180 West. A drug investigation ensued, which revealed the driver to be in possession of two prescriptions for which she did not have proof of being administered. A citation for a traffic violation was issued and warrants of arrest are being sought for the pills.
  • Deputy Bill Flournoy was awarded the Quarterly Employee certificate and prize for the second quarter of 2019.

The Sheriff’s Office made 23 traffic stops at the “Mile Long Bridge” over the last two weeks. Most of these stops were for people running the red lights. If you run the red light while workers are present, the maximum fine of $500 must be imposed by the court.

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, traffic accidents/hazards, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, and some types of proactive calls.
