Last week’s McTeacher Night at the Breckenridge McDonald’s Restaurant raised a total of $2,075 for South Elementary School, according to the event’s organizers.

Of that total, $500 was a donation directly from David and Carol Whealy, the owners of the local McDonald’s.

The money raised at the Oct. 23 event will help with Battle of The Books materials for an upcoming competition in Mineral Wells, said Kim Fuller with the Breckenridge Elementary PTO, which organized the fundraiser. The money also will be used to purchase Breakfast Club reading books for the students, and a portion of the funds will be applied to the Maker Space that is being built for the South Elementary student
