Stephens County residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will have another opportunity to get help this weekend as the community continues to assist families affected by the federal government shutdown.

Community leaders gathered at the Stephens County Courthouse this afternoon to discuss emergency plans for helping local residents who will not be getting their SNAP benefits (aka “food stamps”) this month, due to the federal government shutdown.
In their regular meeting on Monday, July 14, Stephens County Commissioners approved additional funding for the Stephens County Humane Society, as well as a proposal to explore a federal grant opportunity for an emergency operations center and the purchase of new reporting software for the district clerk’s office.
Stephens County will conduct limited brush pickup in residential areas near the Hubbard Creek Reservoir to help clear downed limbs and debris resulting from recent storms, beginning Wednesday, May 28, according to information from County Judge Michael Roach this afternoon.
Stephens County Emergency Management will open a Warming Station at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center.
In recent meetings, the Stephens County Commissioners Court addressed a diverse agenda, including certifying election results, tightening burial assistance requirements, and recognizing veterans.
On Friday morning, March 6, tornado sirens will wail and fire trucks will be dispatched to different areas of Breckenridge
