Clear Fork Bank of Breckenridge donated $5,000 to the Friends of Historic Breckenridge on Monday, Jan. 12, for upcoming upgrades to a new reception venue located next to the National Theatre in downtown Breckenridge.

As part of an expansion to the theater, the organization purchased the building at 118 E. Walker St. that was known as Dan’s Studio for many years and is renovating it into a location that can be rented for receptions, parties and other events.

The building needs a new roof and new air conditioning, and the FOHB has been raising funds for those improvements. The Clear Fork Bank donation brings the current total to $43,000.

The fundraiser is part of the National Theatre’s ongoing “To Be a Star” campaign, and the donation was presented during the FOHB’s annual meeting.

Friends of Historic Breckenridge is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1995 to support the revitalization and renovation of the downtown district of Breckenridge, to develop an interest in the community’s history, to encourage the restoration of existing buildings to their original architectural facades (relevant to the early history of Breckenridge), and to promote pride in the city. The organization owns and operates The National Theatre, located at 116 E. Walker St., as well as the recent addition at 118 E. Walker St.  The 1920s movie theater has been restored and renovated and is used for concerts, movie presentations, and other events.
