When last week’s City of Breckenridge water outage led to the postponement of the community’s annual Christmas Parade, the Chamber of Commerce staff and board members went to work coming up with a new date for the event. After checking schedules and getting permission from the Texas Department of Transportation to move the permit to a different day, they have rescheduled the parade for Wednesday, Dec. 17, in downtown Breckenridge.

There are just 10 more days until Christmas, and the Breckenridge community has already celebrated several holiday-related events with a few more on the calendar.

Since mid-November, local organizations have hosted events such as the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce’s Mingle and Jingle — including downtown shopping, the community Christmas tree lighting, the tamale championship and more — the Craft Guild’s annual craft show, East Elementary’s Breakfast with Santa, the Humane Society’s Pet Photos with Santa, and more.

Also, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the National Theatre of Breckenridge and Friends of Historic Breckenridge hosted a holiday-themed concert featuring Maggie Amini and Kevin Singleton. Click here to see the Breckenridge Texan’s photo gallery from the concert.

Upcoming events include the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Breckenridge, holiday parties and events at the schools, church events and more.

Check out the list of upcoming activities below:

‘Cowboy Christmas’ Parade

The holiday festivities continue in December with the annual parade, which features the theme “A Cowboy Christmas.” The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce is calling on local businesses, schools, and organizations to participate in the event scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, rescheduled from an earlier date.

Participants electing to be judged will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, and their interpretation of the “Cowboy Christmas” theme. While the parade begins at 6 p.m., floats being judged are required to line up by 4:45 p.m.. All other entries must be in position at the designated staging area on Liveoak Street by 5 p.m.

For more information, call the Chamber at 254-559-2301.
