Saturday morning dawned bright and crisp, perfect weather for the sixth annual Wags and Whiskers 5K and Furry Fun Run benefiting the Stephens County Humane Society. About 30 runners/walkers — some with their dogs along for the jaunt — participated in the fundraiser at the Breckenridge City Park.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Stephens County Humane Society. The SCHS has added expenses this year, since the closure of the City of Breckenridge animal shelter has required the organization to seek alternative lodging for local animals awaiting adoption.

The race had two sections — the 5K run and the Furry Fun Run. This year, several runners in the 5K brought their dogs along for the run, as did all of the participants in the Furry Fun Run.
