April 3

  • A deputy responded to a mobile disturbance involving two vehicles. The deputy contacted the two vehicles near U.S. Highway 183 South and FM 2231. A 38-year-old male was arrested for Driving While License Invalid, then transported to the Stephens County Jail.

April 4

  • The Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant a 37-year-old male for Illegal Dumping. The male was already incarcerated in the jail on other charges when served this warrant.
  • Two deputies responded to a reckless driving vehicle in the county south of the city limits. A deputy found the vehicle on CR 269 and pulled it over. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old female for felony DWI, due to prior convictions for the same.
  • A deputy transported a male juvenile to Garza County Juvenile Detention Center in Post.

April 5

April 8

  • A resident on CR 265 asked for a Criminal Trespass Warning to be issued to a 68-year-old male who had been bothering her. A deputy issued the CTW to the male over the phone.
  • A deputy contacted two suspicious vehicles with seven people within them at CR 336 (Peeler’s Pier turnoff) and U.S. Highway 180 West. Breckenridge Police provided backup for the deputy, and then the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit also arrived. A narcotics investigation ensued. A 26-year-old female was arrested for felony methamphetamine possession equal to or more than one gram but less than four grams and also a warrant out of another county. A 38-year-old male was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces. Two other males were issued citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • A deputy transported two male inmates from the Stephens County Jail to a state prison near Abilene.

April 9

  • Sheriff Will Holt helped host and provide security for the Kody Norris Show, a bluegrass and gospel music concert held at the National Theater in downtown Breckenridge.

April 10

  • A deputy arrested a 40-year-old male at the law enforcement center on East Dyer Street. The felony warrant was related to drug dealing.
  • A deputy transported a female in the Stephens County Jail to Big Spring State Hospital after the female was found to be incompetent to stand trial.
  • Sheriff Will Holt taught active shooter prevention and response training to Danny Brown’s Kingdom Builders church in Eastland. The course is Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) and can be taught to any church, business or club.

April 11

  • A deputy arrested a 32-year-old male at the Shackelford County Jail, then took him to court in Stephens County. The male was sentenced to prison for past crimes related to stealing a truck and firearms at the lake last year.
  • Sheriff Will Holt attended a two-day training course, along with three others from Breckenridge, on creating a local, certified Crime Stoppers organization.

April 13

  • A detention officer transported a female to a behavioral hospital in Abilene.

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, working traffic accidents, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, some proactive calls, etc.
