Breckenridge will offer plenty to do this weekend with the annual Stephens County Frontier Days scheduled for today and Saturday, May 1-2, and the Stephens County Ranch Rodeo planned for May 1-3.

Frontier Days

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the 2026 Stephens County Frontier Days at the Breckenridge City Park, aka Miller Park, this weekend with activities planned for Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2.

The festival features a wide array of attractions, including vendor booths, food trucks, and a beer garden for adults, as well as a variety of activities such as a chuckwagon cookoff; Miss Breckenridge Pageant; volleyball, cornhole and disc golf tournaments; stick horse races; and a kids’ zone with a mechanical bull and a mechanical surf board, a rock wall, bounce houses and more. Public safety will also be represented in the First Responders Area, which will feature an AirMed helicopter.

Youth Activities and the Kid Zone

The Frontier Days Kid Zone returns this year, for May 1 and 2, offering all-day access for a $5 daily wristband. The Kid Zone features several attractions, including:

  • Mechanical Bull
  • Mechanical Surf Board
  • EuroBungee Trampoline
  • Rock Wall
  • Inflatables

On Saturday, May 2, younger attendees can participate in the Stick Horse Races at 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Junior Buckaroo Academy, the races are free for all ages. Every participant will receive a prize and a coupon for a free ice cream cone from Dairy Queen.

Competitive Events

Sports and games are a central theme of the weekend. The schedule includes:

  • Cornhole Tournament – Friday, May 1, in the Trade Barn at the city park. Boards on at 6 p.m., bags fly at 7 p.m. The cost to enter is $20 per player.
  • Volleyball Tournament – starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the sand volleyball courts in the city park.
  • Youth Soccer Tournament – The Breckenridge Youth Soccer League will host a youth soccer tournament from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the soccer fields adjacent to the city park.
  • Disc Golf Tournament – The Disc Golf Tournament will begin with sign-ups at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the disc golf pavilion in the Breckenridge City Park; the pavilion is located on East Williams Street, behind the Abecca Grace Warehouse, up the hill, east of the swimming pool. The cost to enter is $20 per person with an optional $5 ace pot.

Bingo

For those seeking a different kind of competition, BINGO will be held Saturday, May 2, at 5 p.m. under the Trade Barn. Entry is free, but the game is restricted to those 13 and older.

Organizers have announced that more than 20 prizes will be available across multiple rounds of play.

Chuck Wagons and the Weenie Wagon

A highlight of the Saturday schedule is the Chuck Wagon Cookoff. A chuck wagon lunch will be served at noon on May 2. Tickets cost $15 each and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Organizers emphasize that tickets will not be held and must be purchased promptly.

Additionally, Clear Fork Bank will host its annual Weenie Wagon at Frontier Days, serving free hot dogs and drinks on Saturday, May 2.

Miss Breckenridge Pageant

The annual Miss Breckenridge Pageant is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Trade Barn in the city park. The competition will include girls of all ages competing for crowns, from Tiny Miss to Miss Breckenridge.

Vendor Booths

Throughout Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, Frontier Days will feature a variety of vendor booths and food trucks offering everything from arts, crafts, clothing, and other items to a variety of food and drinks.

Stephens County Ranch Rodeo

It’s also rodeo week in Breckenridge, with multiple events presented each day from Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3, at the Stephens County Rodeo Arena, located east of Breckenridge at 145 CR 245.

Tickets for the Stephens County Ranch Rodeo cost $10 per person per night. There will be entertainment for the entire family, including rodeo action, food, concerts and other fun for all ages.
