Following a month of holiday-related activities, the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce hosted the grand finale on Wednesday, Dec. 17, the annual lighted Christmas Parade in downtown Breckenridge.

With the theme of “Cowboy Christmas,” the parade featured dozens of floats decked out in strings of lights and western decorations, led by the Breckenridge Police Department, Hardin-Simmons University’s Six White Horses and the Breckenridge High School marching band. Stephens County Judge Michael Roach was the parade marshal.
The floats were judged on the criteria of creativity, originality, and their interpretation of the “Cowboy Christmas” theme, and the winners were:
- First Place – ResourceCare Health Care Center
- Second Place – Graham Savings and Loan
- Third Place – Clear Fork Bank of Breckenridge
The parade wrapped up with Santa Claus riding in a Breckenridge Fire truck. Afterwards, Santa stayed in downtown for a while, posing for photos with kids in Foundation Park at the corner of Walker Street and Breckenridge Avenue.
Christmas Day will be Thursday, Dec. 25. If you have any last-minute shopping or business to take care of this week, check with the necessary businesses for their holiday hours. Most businesses and government offices will be closed on Christmas Day, with some closing early on Dec. 24 and others remaining closed on Dec. 26.
The last day of school for 2025 was Dec. 18. Classes will resume on Jan. 5, 2026.
