BFAC’s annual Juried Art Show opens today, Aug. 19

The 33rd annual Juried Art Show at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center will officially open today Tuesday, Aug. 19, and the winners will be announced soon.
The show, featuring dozens of pieces of art by a variety of artists, will be on display through Oct. 11, when a closing reception will be held, featuring a talk by this year’s juror, Liz Bonham of Southlake. She began her career in portraiture at age 15. Her artistic journey has included a BFA in painting from Abilene Christian University, postgraduate work, and private study. She is an active member of OPA-Oil Painters of America, WAOW-Women Artist of the West (Signature Member), AIS-American Impressionist Society, PAPNM-Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, and NOAPS-National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (Signature Member), AWA-American Women Artists (Associate With Distinction), APA-American Plains Artists and OPS-Outdoor Painters Society. This year’s show will include $3,500 in prizes, as follows:
- BFAC Best of Show $1,500
- Shalon Taylor Wilson Memorial Award $1,000
- Lester & Virginia Clark Memorial Award $750
- Bob Swindle Award $250
