It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nora Jean Brockman, who departed this life on May 28, 2025, at the age of 85. Meme was a cherished member of our community, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing her.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the First Baptist Church in Woodson. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Monday, June 2, at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home in Breckenridge, between 6 and 7 p.m.

Jean was born to Milton and Dahlia Lee on October 2, 1939, in Gorman, Texas. She grew up in Woodson, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Brockman, and they spent 68 wonderful years together. Their lives together moved them from Woodson to Midland, to Lubbock, and then back to Woodson. Their love brought five kids into the world, and she handled this gracefully while running for parts, driving a grain truck, building a fence, and hauling hay on their family farm.

She continued raising their kids while driving the local school bus. She also worked for Pump Supply in Woodson and ended her career at the County Clerk’s office in Breckenridge, where she served the community for 20+ years. She lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep love for others.

Jean was deeply devoted to her family and spent many years chasing her kids and grandkids to sporting events or any activity they were involved in. Her love was a guiding light in the lives of those closest to her. Throughout her years, Meme exemplified tenacity, and her legacy will continue to inspire others while being a role model for all her family members. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodson.

Jean is survived by her husband, Thomas Brockman; son Glenn and wife Debra; daughter Tommi Hagle and husband Gary; son Gary and wife Rhonda; son Greg and wife Gae Lynn; daughter Terri Clark and husband Ricky; 14 grandkids; and 27 great-grandkids, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Dahlia; sister Patsy Jones, and brother Butch Lee.

The family would like to thank Hendrick Hospice of Abilene for their tender care of Jean in her final days, where they went above their call for her. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her name to thank Hendrick Hospice for their generosity, and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made at meltonkitchens.com

Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in the memories of Jean, her laughter, and the stern love she shared with everyone. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered as we carry forward her spirit in our lives.
