Marathon Homes, located at 820 Industrial Loop, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, March 26.

The manufactured housing plant builds a variety of homes, ranging from small one- and two-bedroom houses to larger three- and four-bedroom/two-bath options, as well as multi-room sleepers, aka man camps, for work sites.

General Manager Bob Clay said they finish one house a day in a process that takes the Marathon employees about 17 days from start to finish on each house. At any time, there are several houses in the plant in various stages of completion.

“We’re building one a day right now,” Clay said. “We want to do it right. We want to make sure that we take the building blocks and build a good quality house. We will eventually get to two houses (a day), and then eventually get to three and continue to grow. Right now, we’re proud to say that we have 104 employees from Breckenridge and the surrounding area.”

The houses are sold through dealers and are made so that they are ready for the new owners to move into them within 24 to 48 hours of being delivered.

They are customizable by the home buyer, depending on their needs. For example, each customer can pick the type of countertops, cabinets, trim, etc. that they want in their house.
