Earlier this month, all of the toys, clothing and other things that were donated through the local Toys for Tots, All His Children and Angel Tree programs were gathered in the AHC Christmas headquarters and sorted.
Late one evening last week, four volunteers were busy matching the donations to the wish lists of community children. There are about 150 to 160 children who are getting gifts through the program this year.
There were stuffed animals, dolls, tool sets, toy cars, puzzles, board games, robots, makeup sets, all sorts of balls, clothes, coats and more. Everything was either donated or purchased with monetary donations.
The organizations work together to make sure the children of Breckenridge and Stephens County have a good Christmas. Throughout the holiday season, local businesses and organizations have collected monetary donations, as well as toys and other items, for the children.
Once a child’s wish list was fulfilled, the volunteers went to work calling the parents to let them know the gifts were ready. For those who couldn’t pick up the toys, the Breckenridge Police Department had volunteered to deliver the packages.
