Lillian “Lynn” McCoy, 68, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away surrounded by those she loved on November 6, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories with Butch Hinkle officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends for a visitation on Monday, November 11, from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home.

Lynn was born in Canyon, Texas, on October 31, 1956, to parents, W.E. and Evelyn Blair. On a hot summer afternoon in August over 50 years ago while playing a game of bowling in Graham, Texas, Lynn crossed paths with the man, that would eventually be her lifelong partner, Terry McCoy. The couple married in 1983 and made Breckenridge their home together. Lynn and Terry raised their children and did their best to always show them the importance of honesty, working hard and to maintain a relationship with Jesus throughout their lives. The importance of family and a stable home life was a priority for Lynn.

Lynn was an avid bingo player and would go anywhere that was holding a bingo game that she could join in on. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she worked throughout the year to make it special with her own creations she created to adorn her yard for the Christmas holidays. Over the years, the McCoy residence was a popular destination to drive by and view the enormous display of Christmas decorations that included music blaring for those driving by to enjoy. Lynn also gave orders in recent months that no matter what, Christmas decorations are to go up for this coming Christmas holiday. So, Terry and the children are already discussing the execution plan for decorating.

She spent many hours on the sidelines watching her grandchildren play numerous sports. In her words, Lynn would literally have gone to the ends of the earth to watch her grandchildren play in a sports event. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Lynn would always be joking that this one or that one was her favorite grandchild, but in reality, they were all her favorite!

Lynn was a loyal Texas Ranger fan also, no matter if they were winning or not. During baseball season, you could always bet that she would be in front of a television screen, cheering and yelling her favorite team on. Lynn was so excited to get to see the Rangers win the World Series.

Later in life, she found a new passion and that was working for the Mussleman Ranch. It was widely known by those that knew her that she took a great sense of pride working on the ranch and valued any time spent on the ranch she grew to love so dearly.

Many things will be missed by her not being physically with her family but knowing that she was always the peace maker and never was known to have an enemy helps to leave behind a long list of things her family can hold as a legacy. Our memories of her will live on in each one of us.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, W.E. and Evelyn Blair; sister Norma Sue Woodrum; brother JA Burns, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Tommy Hunt, and nephew, Thomas Gene Hunt.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Terry of 43 years; sons Jerry Freeze, Mark McCoy wife Crystal, and Chuck McCoy and wife Vicky; daughter Kandie Lynn Phillips and husband Jordan; sister Willie Hunt and husband Carl; her Brother, Danny Ray Burns; sister in Christ, Melinda Littlepage Murach; grandchildren: Blake, Levi, Gracie, Landon, Braylen, Aubrie “Doddle”, Nathan, Jagger and one on the way, Brixley Dawn; along with many friends.

Condolences can be made at meltonkitchens.com. Memorials can be may in honor of Lynn for the Breckenridge Girls High School Softball Team and may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office.
