Jonell Systems Filtration Group will host the inaugural Jonell-a-Thon, a 5K run and 2K walk, on Saturday, Nov. 9, to raise funds for the local Senior Meals and Meals-on-Wheels programs.

In addition to the 5K run and 2K walk, there will be lots of activities for families to enjoy. According to Michelle Funderburg with Jonell, there will be bounce houses for kids to play in, as well as cornhole and horseshoes games. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to do some catch-and-release fishing in the Jonell pond, and hot dogs will be served. Jonell also has arranged for a fire truck to be on site for kids to get a closer look at.

The 2K walk will be around the newly installed pond at Jonell, 900 Industrial Parkway, with the walk taking about five trips around the pond. The 5K run will start and end at the pond, but the route will take runners through the nearby neighborhood.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places.

On-site registration will begin at 9 a.m., and the run is expected to start about 10 a.m. The entry fee will be $5 for ages 14 and older (13 and younger can participate for free), and proceeds will benefit the two meal programs that provide meals to almost 200 Stephens County residents.
