Bill Lasater

Bill Lasater, age 94, of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, in the Breckenridge Cemetery with Patrick Frishe officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
Billy Joe Lasater was born November 28, 1929, in Eastland County, Texas, to parents Bruce White Lasater and Mary Unice Black Lasater. He graduated from Eastland High School and began working at TX Electric (now known as Oncor) at 18 years of age. He was a dedicated employee until his retirement in 1985. Billy married Glenna Rae Harris on July 19, 1952 in Eastland. They moved to Breckenridge four years later where they made their home and raised their family together. The Lasater’s enjoyed lake life at Hubbard Creek and enjoyed hosting their family throughout the years. Mr. Lasater was a licensed pilot and lived a full adventurous life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, bowling, scuba diving, flying model airplanes, reading, coin collecting, and he could build anything. Mr. Lasater loved vacationing, especially trips to Hawaii, and he looked forward to his yearly trip to Fredericksburg. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and more recently attended Gunsight Baptist Church.
Mr. Lasater was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenna of 62 years; sister, Claudine Faith Boggs; two brothers, Max Lasater and Doyle Lasater; and one great-grandson, Blake Hamilton.
Mr. Lasater is survived by his loving daughters, Paulette Shields and husband Rusty of Carthage and Laura Bishop and husband Harold of Breckenridge; one brother-in-law, James King and wife Hazel of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Tracy Gaines and husband Bryan of Houston, Robin Welch of Carthage, Caitlin Shields of Carthage, Jennifer Hopper and husband Dustin of Abilene, Trey Hamilton and wife Tasha of Breckenridge, and Jessica Bishop of Breckenridge; ten great-grandchildren, Connor, Jordan, Kylee, Aaron, Garrett, Samantha, Emily, Rylan, Alex, and Jettie; one great-great-granddaughter, Aurora.
