Miss Breckenridge 2024 MacKenzie Cloud presented a donation to Cafe Love on Tuesday morning. The funds were generated through this year’s Miss Breckenridge Pageant, held in conjunction with Frontier Days in May.
MacKenzie was joined by her mother, Heather Mathiews; Jessica Wade with Halo Cosmetics, who organized and sponsored the pageant; as well as members of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce and the volunteers who run Cafe Love.
As a new aspect to the Miss Breckenridge pageant this year, a portion of the proceeds was designated to be donated to a local nonprofit organization, chosen by the winner of the contest. MacKenzie chose Cafe Love. Some of the money for the donation was raised through the pageant’s Most Popular category, which was based on donations each contestant raised from family and friends. MacKenzie, who also won the Most Popular category, and the Miss Breckenridge Pageant donated $1,370 to Cafe Love.
Cafe Love is a weekly lunch program hosted by First Methodist Church of Breckenridge. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Cafe Love serves a free meal in the First Methodist Church’s Christian Life Center. The meal is open to anyone who wants to attend.
“I’m so extremely thankful for this offering we’ve been given for Cafe Love,” said First Methodist Church Pastor Sam Chambers. “I’m thankful for the community that reached out and showed this love. We have a lot of volunteers that come together so that we can offer meals every Tuesday at 11:30. If you are hungry and want some fellowship…if you’re hungry for spiritual nourishment, emotional or just physical, just come on and be a part of us every Tuesday at 11:30.”
