James Stephens Creagh II, 68 of Breckenridge passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Linda Leverage and Andy Channer officiating. Interment to follow at Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

James Creagh was born on March 17, 1956, to John and Ruth Ann Creagh in Breckenridge, Texas. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1974. James studied Electrical Systems at Texas State Technical College in Waco and became a Master Electrician in Breckenridge; after which, he spent time in the Navy, stationed on the USS Long Beach. After his service ended, James worked as a partner in the family business, Creagh Electric, with his father, John. James took ownership of the family business when John retired. James spent the remainder his career working with Herrington Heating and Cooling, Stephens Memorial Hospital, TDCJ Walker Sayle, and his local community.

James married the love of his life, Rhonda, on October 31, 1994, at the First Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge. He spent the next 30 years being a loving husband to his wife, Rhonda, and a dedicated father, better known as Pappy, to his daughter, Bonnie.

James was named after this grandfather and was very close with his family. He had a special bond with his cousins, who have always been more like siblings to James and his sister, Sharee. They spent summers together since childhood, and continue this tradition to this day. James’s family has been in Breckenridge since 1885, and James resided on the family land, along with his parents, and several other family members during his lifetime.

James had a love for music, and took time in his retirement to learn guitar; a hobby he loved discussing with his son-in-law, Mason. James especially developed a fondness for the bass guitar and worked to practice daily. When he wasn’t playing music, you could find him playing with their dog, Greta. James and Rhonda also enjoyed taking camping trips to relax in nature.

James came across as serious, but those who knew him agree that he had a great sense of humor. He loved his community, and was always available to help anyone who needed it.

James is saying “until we meet again” to his wife, Rhonda; his daughter, Bonnie Minatra, and his son-in-law, Mason Feuhrer; his sister, Sharee Cummings and her grandsons, Kayson and Kyler Cummings; his mother, Ruth Ann Creagh; and his family.

Condolences can be made at meltonkitchens.com. In lieu of flowers, the family thought it fitting to make donations to the Texas Sweeties Dog Rescue. Greta has brought so much joy to James and Rhonda’s lives, and they would like to give back to spread the joy for others. www.texassweetiesdogrescue.org
