Stephens County District Attorney announces July 2024 pleas
The 90th Judicial District Attorney’s Office’s recently released the following list of cases that were pleaded in July 2024:
- Russell Ray Harrison, 29, Breckenridge, pleaded true to the violations alleged in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Community Supervision for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance Four Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to five years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division (TDCJ-ID), and was ordered to pay remaining court cost; and, pleaded guilty to the offense of Burglary of Habitation, and was sentenced to five years confinement in the TDCJ-ID, and was ordered to pay court cost.
- Kristopher Glen Russell, 44, Ranger, pleaded true to the violations alleged in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Community Supervision for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance Four Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to five years confinement in the TDCJ-ID, and was ordered to pay remaining court cost; pleaded true to the violations alleged in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Community Supervision for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance One Grams or More but Less Than Four Grams – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to five years confinement in the TDCJ-ID, and was ordered to pay remaining court cost; and pleaded true to the violations alleged in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Community Supervision for the offense of Fail to Comply Sex Offender Duty to Register with Previous Conviction, and was sentenced to five years confinement in the TDCJ-ID, and was ordered to pay remaining court cost.
- Braxton Rhuel Johnson, 22, Breckenridge, pleaded true to the violations alleged in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Community Supervision for the offense of Burglary of Building, and was sentenced to 12 months confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – State Jail, and was ordered to pay remaining court cost.
- Jonathan Barrera, 40, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B Four Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to 10 years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $5,000 fine, court cost and restitution.
- Ryan William Lee Wilkinson, 21, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Online Solicitation of a Minor, and was sentenced to 10 years Community Supervision, and ordered to pay $1,500 fine and court cost.
- Ysmael Mike Olvera, 40, Abilene, pleaded guilty to the offense of Misapplication of Fiduciary/Financial Property More Than $30,000 but Less Than $150,000, and was sentenced to eight years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $1,500 fine, court cost and restitution.
- Soy-la Sharee-Lacey Perez, 31, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver Four Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to seven years Community Supervision, and was ordered to Pay $2,500 fine, court cost and restitution.
- Timothy Robert Kline, 62, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Abandon or Endanger Child – Intentional/Knowingly/Recklessly/Criminal Negligence, and was sentenced to five years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $5,000 fine and court cost.
- Steven Dean Byerly, 34, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, and was sentenced to four years Community Supervision, and ordered to pay $1,500 fine and court cost.
- Tanesha Michelle Roberson, 41, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Prohibited Substance in Correctional Facility, and was sentenced to four years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $750 fine, court cost and restitution.
- Mitchelle Wayne Stewart, 34, Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of Injury to Child with Reckless Bodily Injury, and was sentenced to four years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $1,500 fine and court cost.
- Kaitlyn Elizabeth Hinson, 30, Abilene, Texas, pleaded guilty to the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B Less Than One Gram – Methamphetamine, and was sentenced to three years of Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay $500 fine, court cost and restitution; and, pleaded guilty to the offense of Fraud Use/Possession of Identifying Information – Less Than 5 Items, and was sentenced to three years Community Supervision, and was ordered to pay court cost.

As a non-profit news outlet, the Breckenridge Texan depends on donations, in addition to ad sales, to fund daily operations, including website costs, freelance writers, and basic office expenses. The organization aims to raise $4,000, which could be tripled to $12,000 through various matching programs, including the NewsMatch program and the Rural Partner Fund, which is supported by several major foundations.
Founded in 2017 by journalists Tony Pilkington and Carla McKeown, the Breckenridge Texan provides daily local news coverage, weekly newsletters, photo galleries, a community calendar, and obituaries. The outlet serves both local residents and people outside the community seeking information about Breckenridge and Stephens County, including potential new residents and businesses. They chose the non-profit structure to maintain local control of news coverage while minimizing the financial burden on the community.
