The Learning Tree preschool at First Methodist Church of Breckenridge held its 2024 graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 15, for the 11 students who will be moving on to kindergarten next year.

The ceremony began with a prayer led by Pastor Sam Chambers. Following the invocation, Learning Tree Director Gaye Scribner recognized the school’s board members and staff who contribute to the preschool’s success. The board members include Donna Wade, Jaclyn Morehart, Karen Duggan, Martye Underwood and Sheila Tonne. The school’s teachers are Devin Olvera and Kaitlin Wade, 4-year-old class; Alexia Saucedo, 3-year-old class; and Alondra Rincon, 2-year-old class.

The graduates, dressed in their caps and gowns, entered to the traditional tune of “Pomp and Circumstance.” Max Moore and Corley White led the pledges, while Jacqueline Trammel and Blanton McNabb recited The Lord’s Prayer. All the graduates joined together to recite The Beatitudes and perform the song “Father Abraham.”

During the ceremony there was a slideshow presented by Jaclyn Morehart and Jessica Bishop, showcasing memorable moments from the school year. Diplomas were presented to each graduate by Scribner, along with teachers Kaitlin Wade and Devin Olvera.

The Class of 2024 includes the following graduates:

  • Kenia Howeth
  • Max Moore
  • Alonzo Ornelas
  • Bristol Skiles
  • Jacqueline Trammel
  • Luke Wade
  • Ella Langford
  • Blanton McNabb
  • Kairo Palacios
  • Piper Robinson
  • Corley White

In a conclusion, the graduates sang “This Little Light of Mine” and Pastor Chambers offered a closing prayer.  Lucy Wade and Summer Walker served as ushers.

Learning Tree offers classes from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays of each week from September through May. “The Learning Tree goal is to combine teachings of Jesus Christ with our Pre-K curriculum to foster educational growth in a kind and supportive environment. This Pre-K is a mission as much as it is academically strong,” Scribner said in an email. “Our classes are vibrant, fun, and joyful with age appropriate learning activities. Our curriculum is chosen by our board of retired teachers and business owners who want the very best for each child.”
