The Stephens County AgriLife Extension Office will host a car seat safety event on Friday, April 26. Local parents can get their car seats inspected and receive a free car seat or booster seat, depending on need.

The safety event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the First Methodist Church parking lot at 419 W. Walker St. The Extension Service is teaming up with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of State Health Services to offer the safety inspections.

The inspections will be open to everyone and can help keep Stephens County children safe when traveling in vehicles.

Parents need to bring their child/children, car seat(s) and the car that they usually use. Certified child passenger safety technicians will inspect the car seat and make sure it is safe and installed correctly. If possible, bring the owner’s manual for your vehicle and the owner’s manual for your car seat.

Free car seats will be available to those in need.

Registration is not required, but it is encouraged by the local Extension office so that they can be prepared for everyone. To register or to get more information, call 254-559-2313 during regular business hours.
