Several local churches will host Holy Week Services this week, Monday through Friday, March 25-29, at the Stephens County Courthouse. Each service will begin at noon. The following pastors are scheduled:

  • Monday, March 25, Steve Spoon with The Real Church
  • Tuesday, March 26, Will Anderson with Lighthouse Church
  • Wednesday, March 27, Samantha Chambers, First Methodist Church
  • Thursday, March 28, Sonny McCauley, First Christian Church
  • Friday, March 28, Fr. Donald Sackett, St. Andrews Anglican Church

Also scheduled for this week are two Easter egg hunts for local children.

New Destination Church will host a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in the Breckenridge City Park.

Also on Saturday, March 30, the Buffalo RV Park-KOA Campground, 2833 W. Walker St., will host an Easter Egg Hunt. The organizers are planning a visit from the Easter Bunny, an Easter Egg Hunt, Easter crafts and more.

Additionally, many local churches have special Easter services planned for Sunday, March 31.

This past weekend, local children and their families enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt, visits with the Easter Bunny and hot dog picnic at East Elementary School, hosted by area fire departments. Caddo VFD, Wayland VFD, Hubbard Creek VFD and the Breckenridge Fire Department, as well as several local businesses, sponsored the event at the school’s playground on Saturday, March 23.

Sy Mitchell, fire chief for Caddo VFD, said there were thousands of filled Easter eggs for the kids to find at the East Elementary event. This is the volunteer fire department’s second year to help with the activity, and they plan to continue in the future. “Hopefully it’ll just get bigger and better each year. That’s what our plan is,” Mitchell said.

Additionally, the Easter Bunny made a stop at Breckenridge’s United Supermarket on Sunday, March 24.
