Western art exhibit on display at Breckenridge Fine Arts Center

Visitors to the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center can see the first western art exhibit the gallery has had in at least six years. The exhibit, which features the work of a group of artists from north Texas, will be on display through Feb. 8.
The exhibit in the BFAC’s main gallery includes oil paintings, bronze sculptures, carved wood pieces, watercolors, woven tapestries, pencil drawings, photographs and pastels.
The subject matter of the artwork in the exhibit encompasses all things western — horses, cattle, farmers, ranchers, cowboys, Native Americans and more. A few pieces from the BFAC’s permanent collection are mixed in the guest artists’ work.
Some of the artists with work in the exhibit include Beth Prichard, Kathy Smyers, Jerry Smyers, Tom Roberts, Bob Smith, Marion Russell, Dick Phillips, James Asher, Clark Bronson and Lorenzo Chavez.
In mid-March, the BFAC will feature an exhibit by The Raw Studio in San Angelo, and the center’s annual fundraising Casino Night is scheduled for April 20.
The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. It is located at 207 N. Breckenridge Ave.
