Local children, Santa bring Christmas cheer to Breckenridge
In the days leading up to Christmas Day, there have been many holiday activities going on around Breckenridge, and the Breckenridge Texan staff has attended as many as we could. Click here to see a Photo Gallery of several of the holiday events.
East Elementary’s first-grade students presented a Holidays Around the World parade. Students dressed in costumes and carried flags and holiday symbols from Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Germany, India and Israel.
Second-graders went to the Stephens County Courthouse, where Justice of the Peace Steve Spoon put Santa Claus on trial for breaking and entering. Fortunately, Santa was found not guilty and was released in time to join the school kids on the courthouse steps to sing Christmas carols.
The kindergarten students also joined in on the holiday fun, singing Christmas carols in the East Elementary gym for parents, grandparents and others.
Later in the week, Santa was at the business office at Stephens Memorial Hospital for pictures with kids — and adults — who stopped by for a quick visit.
