The Breckenridge Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 800 block of West Walker Street at 3:38 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. No one was injured in the blaze, but the house was completely destroyed.

The firefighters put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to any other homes in the area. They were still on the scene after 8 a.m., putting out hotspots.

According to firefighters on the scene, everyone in the house got out safely. A vehicle and shed on the property were also damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Texas A&M Forest Service and other area firefighters continued to battle the Cedar Creek fire in northeastern Stephens County on Saturday. The fire started Friday night, Sept. 8, in the area off of Park Road 33 near the FM 3253 intersection.

At 11:17 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, the Forest Service reported that the fire had burned 500 acres and was 90 percent contained.

Wildfires were also burning in Shackelford, Throckmorton, Palo Pinto and Eastland counties.
