Registration open for 2023 Homecoming Parade floats; this year’s theme: We Choose to be Buckaroos

“We Choose to be Buckaroos” will be the theme of the 2023 Breckenridge Buckaroos Homecoming Parade, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 13, in downtown Breckenridge. The parade will be followed by the Homecoming Pep Rally on the east side of the Stephens County Courthouse lawn.

The annual parade is hosted by the BISD All-Sports Booster Club and will begin at 7 p.m. It will proceed down Walker Street, from Miller Street to Court Street.

Any businesses or organizations that would like to have a float in the parade needs to have the registration forms filled out and turned in by Friday, Sept. 8. Registration forms may be picked up and dropped off at W5 Pharmacy, 1110 E. Walker St.

Some of the entry categories that participants include:

  • Float on a trailer pulled by another vehicle
  • Car or truck only
  • Bicycle
  • Motorcycle
  • Walking performance group
  • Walking/Pulling a child’s wagon
  • Horse-mounted rider

All floats will be introduced in front of the courthouse. Each float will be judged on their interpretation of the theme (We Choose to be Buckaroos), creativity and originality.

The Homecoming football game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in Buckaroo Stadium against the Eastland Mavericks.
