Breckenridge Library gets new LED lighting installed; carpeting to be replaced soon

The Breckenridge Library is looking a little brighter lately after receiving some updates, which will continue in the upcoming weeks.
The lights throughout the library were replaced with LED lights recently, and the carpet will be replaced later this fall. While the carpeting is being replaced, the library will be closed for a couple of weeks.
The upgrades are being funded through a a grant that Library Director Heather Schkade applied for earlier this year.
“We’re trying to get organized and clean things up and make it easier for everyone to come in and check out books,” Schkade said.
The library currently is not accepting book donations for the fundraising book sale; they will start accepting books again in October, Schkade said. However, the books that have been donated in the past are still on display in the back corner of the library and may be purchased at any time.
The Breckenridge Library is located at 209 N. Breckenridge Ave. and offers books, CDs and DVDs for those with library cards to check out.
Library cards for patrons age 18 and older may be obtained by filling out a user agreement in person at the library. Two proofs of current residence (utility bills are preferred) are needed, plus a picture ID (Driver’s License preferred). Additionally, parents or guardians may assist their children (age 6-17) in getting a student library card.
The library’s card catalog is online and searchable at the website www.brecklibrary.org.
The library also offers other services, such as computer usage, wifi access, and printer use. Also, the library offers access to OverDrive, an online eBook service.
The Breckenridge Library is open Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The computers automatically shut down at 5 p.m.
