Breckenridge High School and the Breckenridge Police Department will conduct a reenactment of a drunk driving accident in front of the high school, beginning at about 2 p.m. Monday, May 8.

Also participating in the realistic “Shattered Dreams” event will be the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Sacred Cross EMS, the Breckenridge Fire Department and Care Flight helicopter service.

A wrecked car will be used, along with real emergency responders and their equipment, to make the scene look as accurate as possible for the program aimed at preventing drunk driving. The first responders will be using the event as a training exercise.

“This will provide a good opportunity for our student body to see what can happen in a drunk driving accident as well as how our first responders operate as a unit,” BHS Principal Paul Armstrong said in a statement posted on the school district’s Facebook page. “If you have any questions, please contact the high school office.”
