The Breckenridge High School One-Act Play team has advanced to the Regional competition after this evening’s successful performance of “Wit” at the Area contest in Clyde. According to BHS theater teacher Tucker Young, this is the first time BHS has advanced to the Regional contest since 2001.

In addition to the team advancing to the next level, BHS also received the Best Crew Award; Avery Rodgers received the Best Performer Award; and Zaea Ragle and Monsey Mendoza received honorable mentions.

In today’s contest, the BHS theater group competed against Clyde High School (“The Old Man and the Old Moon”), Jim Ned High School (“The Balkan Women”), Vernon High School (“Typhoid Mary”), Dublin High School (“A Monster Calls”), and Wall High School (“The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”), according to a post on the BHS Theater’s Facebook page. Dublin and Clyde also will be advancing to the Regional round, and Wall will be the alternate.

According to the UIL website, the Region 1-3A competition will be April 20 at Clyde High School. The top two teams at the Regional meet will go to the State competition in Austin in May.
