Eighth graders compete for Big Brain trophy
Breckenridge Junior High School staged its own game show earlier this week with the Big Brain Show, which included tests of knowledge, feats of skill and some competitiveness.
The game pitted three eighth grade students against each other, Jack Walker, Faith Walker and Cam David. After multiple rounds of questions, the field was narrowed down to just Jack and Faith, and finally, with the final question, Faith won. She received the Big Brain trophy, while her competitors were presented with smaller awards for second and third place.
The questions ranged from “What type of plate boundary makes the earth shake?” and “What’s the difference between speed and velocity?” to “What is Batman’s real name?” and “Is ‘Harry Potter’ science fiction?”
Eighth-grade science teacher Chelsea Escalon was the show’s host, and eighth-grade math teacher Robert Burchett helped keep score.
