Several members of the Breckenridge High School track team left town this morning, Wednesday, May 11, on their way to the 2022 Track and Field State Meet in Austin.

Escorted by fire trucks, police cars and others, senior Daniel Valdez; juniors Chase Lehr, Sean Cooksey, Adrian Ruiz and Anson Rodgers; and freshman Sawyer Wimberley are traveling to Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin for Thursday’s events.  Their send-off route took the team past the high school and both elementary schools, as well as through the center of town, while Buckaroo fans cheered them on.

Lehr will run in the 800-meter race at 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 12; Cooksey will compete in the 100-meter at 6:05 p.m.; the 4×200 relay team of Ruiz, Valdez, Cooksey and Wimberley will run at 6:25 p.m.; and Ruiz will run in the 200-meter dash at 7:30 p.m. Rodgers and Lehr are alternates for the relay team.
