Chuck Dooley was recently honored by Property Casualty Alliance of Texas as the 2021-2022 PCAT Bus Driver of the Year for Breckenridge ISD.

In addition to being named as the PCAT Member district’s 2021-2022 PCAT Bus Driver of the Year, Dooley was also named as a PCAT Regional Bus Driver of the Year. That designation, reserved for a smaller group of district Bus Driver of the Year recipients, represents an even higher level of dedication and accomplishment.

The award was presented to Dooley by BISD Superintendent Bryan Allen, BISD Maintenance and Transportation Director Mark Wilcox and Walker Trudeau with PCAT on March 9 at Breckenridge ISD’s Administrative office. The award is based on multiple driver attributes, including leadership, attitude, perseverance, student and parent relationships, and technical skill.

“We’re honored to recognize the effort, sacrifice and great care exhibited by school bus drivers throughout the PCAT program,” said Rick Edwards, President of Edwards Risk Management, Inc. “When I consider the heartfelt praise offered by other school bus drivers, supervisors, school staff, students and parents, it stands out in my mind that the accomplishments extend beyond competent driving. It also speaks volumes to these drivers’ humility, gentle spirits, gracious demeanor and servant hearts, even as many of them have dealt with their own life struggles.”

According to the PCAT website, the purpose of the award is to recognize the achievements of the best drivers as district PCAT Bus Driver of the Year, which helps reward their efforts and motivate others.

Each year, Member Transportation Directors are contacted and asked to provide their district’s selection for PCAT Bus Driver of the Year.

PCAT is the largest public school risk pool in the U.S. devoted solely to property and casualty exposures. Formed in 2003 to meet the property and casualty insurance needs faced by Texas schools, PCAT has grown to 174 members and more than $19 billion in school properties.
