BISD band hosts Instrument Petting Zoo for South Elementary students
By Nathalie Wilhite/Special to the Breckenridge Texan
The Breckenridge Independent School District Band department hosted an Instrument Petting Zoo at South Elementary for incoming band members on Monday, Feb. 28.
Fifth graders had the opportunity to try each of the instruments to determine their favorites and then discuss their results with Junior High Band Director James Wilhite.
Each instrument station was manned by current band members, who coached prospective students on how to hold the instruments and make a sound. Instruments were provided by N-Tune Music and Sound of Abilene.
Wilhite will be at South Elementary on Tuesday, March 8, and Thursday, March 10, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to continue helping students choose their instruments.
