Letter to Editor: Reader supports Glenn Rogers in 2022 election

February 16

Dear Editor,

As we go to the polls to vote for our State Representative, I encourage all of you to cast their ballot for Palo Pinto County veterinarian and rancher, Dr. Glenn Rogers.  As our current state representative in Austin, Dr. Rogers has stood honorably in defense of rural Texas. He has fought against urban interests that disregard the interests of people and communities in counties like ours.

I want you to pause and think about who understands the socioeconomic needs and values of rural counties like Stephens and Palo Pinto.  As a resident of Graford, Dr. Glenn Rogers does.  All of his opponents are residents of Parker County, now a suburban extension of DFW.  They do not understand the unique needs of our communities.  Dr. Rogers is one of us, and he will fight to ensure that policies, laws, and regulations do not negatively impact rural Texans, who primarily make their livings from oil, gas, agriculture, small-business, and outdoor tourism and recreation.

Politicians from urban areas, even some Republicans, often promote legislation that hurt rural communities without understanding the damage they do. What is best for a growing city can often threaten the rural way of life. Dr. Rogers understands this and has been a stalwart for the rural cause.

Dr. Rogers’ peers in the legislature know that he is an honest and straightforward representative. While protecting the interests of rural Texas, he has worked tirelessly with his urban counterparts to promote policies that benefit everyone, like getting a thirteenth paycheck to our retired teachers and reigning in ever-growing property tax rates.

In his first term as our representative, Dr. Rogers has shown that he will fight to protect our rural values and way of life while also being able to build relationships and partnerships among his peers to get things done. This is why I am asking you to join me in voting for Dr. Glenn Rogers for House District 60 Representative.

Will Holt
Breckenridge, Texas
